Donald E. Kimmel

Donald E. Kimmel Sr., 80, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 10 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Kimmel, a lifelong resident of Huntington County, served in the Korean War after graduating from Huntington High School. He had worked as a quality control engineer for Memcor, ITT Corporation and United Technologies. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He volunteered as a storyteller during school field trips at the Forks of the Wabash Historic Park.

He was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Huntington to Emil B. and Ruth Teusch Kimmel. He married Sharyon Tappero on July 2, 1957, in Silver Lake, NM. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include four sons, Donald (Sara) Kimmel Jr., of Fishers; Daniel (Krista) Kimmel, of Olympia, WA; David (Kirstenn) Kimmel, of Houson, TX; and Damon (Daline) Kimmel, of Huntington; a daughter, Deborah Tyler, of Orland, FL; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
