Rudy E. Decker

Rudy E. Decker, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mr. Decker graduated in 1953 from Andrews High School. He worked at Farm Bureau Co-op in Bippus and Huntington for several years, at Memcor for 10 years and most recently for the town of Andrews for 17 years, retiring in 1997.

He attended St. Paul's County Line Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, a life member of the First Marine Division and a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was also a member of the Gold Prospecting Association of America-Northern Indiana Chapter and a life member of the North American Hunting Club.

He was born Feb. 24, 1935, in Huntington to Raymond E. and Edith M. Cass Decker. He married Donna M. Hollowell on Dec. 29, 1956, in Hamilton. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Randall E. (Maxine) Decker, of Andrews; two daughters, Ramonda (Steve) Bickel, of Andrews, and Cynthia (Scott) Christman, of Huntington; two sisters, Luella (Max) Hethcote, of Warren, and Doneta Rudy, of Huntington; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Conrad Thompson will officiate. Interment will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
