Christopher T. Scher

Christopher Thomas Scher, 45, of Pikeville, NC, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, NC.

Mr. Scher attended Purdue University and was a member of the Little River Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the United States Air Force 916th Reserves as a unit safety officer and served two deployments to the Persian Gulf during Desert Storm.

He was born Jan. 3, 1968, in Huntington and is survived by his father and stepmother, Thomas E. and Mary Scher, of Sumter, SC, and his mother, Georgette Carmen Roth, of Fort Wayne. He married Cathy Berry, who survives.

Additional survivors include three children, Zachary Christopher Scher, Mikayla Mae Scher and Brett Allen Swain; a sister, Denise Ann Casanova, of Switzerland; and two brothers, Charles Robert Scher, of Fort Wayne, and Eric John Scher, of Marion.

Calling is Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., following recitation of the rosary at 3 p.m., at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 U.S.-70 West, Princeton, NC.
