Nellie M. 'Granny' Long

Nellie Madelene "Granny" Long, 96, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Markle Health and Rehabilitation, Markle, IN.

Mrs. Long was a former resident of Warren. She was a homemaker and a member of Mothers of World War II.

She was born June 29, 1916, in Grant County to Burr A. and Eva E. Case Knight. She married Oscar R. Long on Dec. 12, 1936, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Julia) Long, of Grand Prairie, TX, and James Long, of Warren; five daughters, Janet (Don) Slusher, Jacqueline (Don) Zinn and Judith Long, all of Warren; Joyce (Terry) Buck, of Celina, TN; and Joan (David) Tilden, of Huntington; a sister, Wanda Chopson, of Warren; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glancy-H Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Jones Cemetery, Warren.
