Sister Mary Edna Butler

Sister Mary Edna Butler, OLVM, 93, a resident of Victory Noll, in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at the Holy Family Care Center at Victory Noll.

She entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on Oct. 30, 1940, and made her first vows on Aug. 5, 1943. She served in missions in California, New Mexico, Indiana, Missouri, Texas and Florida and spent the last 36 years of her ministry working with the people of Oruro, Bolivia. She retired from ministry in 2006 and returned to Victory Noll.

She was born April 21, 1919, in Louisville, KY, to James and Mary Alberta Schwab Butler.

She is survived by a sister, Alberta Long, of Creve Coeur, MO.

A vigil service will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 7 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Victory Noll memorial Chapel, 1900 W. Park Drive. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at Victory Noll Memorial Chapel. Rev. Thomas Fahey will preside. Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery.
