Fred L. McElhaney

Fred L. McElhaney, 89, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at 10:13 p.m. at Norwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, Huntington, IN.

Mr. McElhaney was a mechanic at Kriegbaum and Sons Implements for 20 years and was head of maintenance at Memcor for 20 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Huntington.

He was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Huntington to John and Hazel Young McElhaney. He married Patricia Ann Farley on Jan. 5, 1946, in Warsaw. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2012.

Survivors include four sons, Ted (Janet) McEhaney, Jim (Tena) McElhaney and David (Vicki) McElhaney, all of Huntington, and Mark (Dianne) McElhaney, of Benson, AZ; a daughter, Lisa Mitchell, of Huntington; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 648 N. LaFontaine St., Huntington. Dr. Richard Lofgren will officiate. Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
