Von Ulshafer

Von Ulshafer, 85, of Wabash, IN, and having ties to Roanoke, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 10:43 a.m. at the Wabash County Hospital.

Mr. Ulshafer was a graduate of LaFontaine High School and attended Ball State University for one year. He worked as a tool and die maker at Delco in Kokomo for 27 years, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of Grace Community Church, Marion.

He was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Wabash County to Urban David and Maxine Elizabeth Harrell Ulshafer. He married Phyllis Marie Watts on Sept. 8, 1950, in Roanoke. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include four sons, Edward (Allison) Ulshafer, of LaFontaine; David A. (Sheryll) Ulshafer, of Wabash; Kevin (Margaret) Ulshafer, of Macon, GA; and Jeff (Colleen) Ulshafer, of Winter Springs, FL; a daughter, Loraine Kay (Mike) Sorrell, of LaFontaine; a sister, Reba (Donald) Jacobs, of LaFontaine; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the LaFontaine Cemetery.
