Richard V. Wing

Richard V. Wing, 85, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wane.

Mr. Wing, was a 1945 graduate of Muncie Central High School. He served with the United States Marine Corps from 1945 to 1946; with the Indiana National Guard's 151st Infantry, 38th Division, 138th Signal Battalion from 1948 until 1962; and with the United States Army Reserve from 1972 until 1974. He retired from military service as a major in 1987.

He worked for General Motors-Muncie Chevrolet Division, retiring in 1982, and was a member of the Muncie Camera Club. He volunteered at the Minnetrista Cultural Center and served as president of the 151st Alumni Association from 1998 to2004. He attended Main Street Methodist Church, First United Church of Christ-First Congregation Christian and Grace Baptist Church.

He was born May 3, 1927, in island Pond, VT, to Antone and Lilla Mae Wing. He married Janice L. Thresher on Dec. 30, 1949, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2013.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Sandy) Wing, of Huntington, and Michael Wing; a daughter-in-law, Karen Wing; two grandchildren, Christina Gaskill and Timothy Wing; and a great-granddaughter.

Calling is Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a service following at 11:30 a.m., at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 Isanogel Road, Muncie. Entombment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
