Jerri L. Hughes

Jerri Lynn Hughes, 51, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 6:30 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, in Huntington.

Ms. Hughes graduated from Huntington North High School in 1979 and earned her associate's degree from Northwood University in hotel and restaurant management. She was employed at several businesses in Huntington, including L&K Restaurant, Ponderosa, George's Dog House, Peebles, The Red Eye and the Huntington County Humane Shelter. She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Huntington, and was active with the humane society.

She was born Oct. 21, 1961, in Huntington to Alvin H. and Helen J. McElhaney Ackerman.

Surviving are four daughters, Jessica Lynn (Stephen) Brown, Anneliese Jean Hughes and Maggie Kay Hughes, all of Huntington, and Sarah Marie (Jacob) Huffer, of Cincinnati, OH; four sisters, Joyce Gravely and Karen Smith, both of Huntington; Rita (Steven) Weber, of Machasini Park, IL; and Nancy (James) England, of Richmond; and one granddaughter, Raelyn Nevaeh Huffer, of Cincinnati, OH.

Calling is Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 648 N. Lafontaine St., Huntington. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation , with Dr. Richard Lofgren presiding. Private burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to the family to help defray the cost of the funeral or St. Peter Lutheran Church Youth Group (SPLAT) in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
