Dean W. Buzzard

Dean William Buzzard, 86, of Grand Blanc, MI, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Buzzard was a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in the United States Army Air corps. He earned a bachelor's degree from Huntington College and master's degrees from Purdue University and the University of Illinois. He was employed as a professor by Mott Community College, Flint, MI, for 31 years, retiring in 1986.

He was born March 6, 1926, in Huntington to Elbridge and Laura Kocher Buzzard. He married Barbara Shaw on Dec. 24, 1948. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2012.

Survivors include a son, Kirk (Diane) Buzzard, of Swartz Creek, MI; a daughter, Cheryl (Douglas) Markham, of Grand Blanc, MI; a brother, Roger (Juanita) Buzzard, of Huntington; three grandchildren, Kelly (Stephen) Syjud, Jonathan Buzzard and Nicole Markham; and a great-granddaughter.

A service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc Township, Michigan. Rev. Kevin Harbin will officiate. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
