John L. 'Jack' Solloway

John L. "Jack" Solloway, 76, of Okeechobee, FL, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012.

Mr. Solloway was a native of Huntington and had lived in Okeechobee for 20 years. He owned Automatic Door Controls and was a journeyman electrician. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard.

He was a member of the Huntington County Basketball Hall of Fame, played fast pitch softball for the Knights of Columbus and Show Lounge in Huntington and coached PAL baseball and girls' softball. He was a member and former grand knight of the Knights of Columbus at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Buckhead Ridge, FL. He had been a professed Secular Franciscan for 35 years and was a member of Divine Mercy Fraternity in Vero Beach, FL.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Knight Solloway; two sons, John H. Solloway, of Glenburn, ND, and Robert (Nancy) Solloway, of Indianapolis; three daughters, Michelle (Jim) Holley, of Bluffton; Peggysue (Jim) Roesler, of Columbia City; and Mary Jo Solloway, of Okeechobee, FL; two brothers, William (Sharon) Solloway, of Fort Wayne, and Steve (Norma) Solloway, of Crossville, TN; a sister, Mary (David) Reust, of Huntington; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of the Resurrection was held on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Buckhead Ridge, FL.

Burial will be at a later date in Huntington.
