Jerry L. Ruef

Jerry L. Ruef, 83, of Huntington, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at 4 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Ruef was retired from Good Humor-Breyers (formerly Sealtest), where he had been employed for 39 years, and also owned Jer-Jan Lawn Care from 1974 to 1989. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a 1947 graduate of Salamonie Township High School, Huntington County. He was a member of Central Christian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, both in Huntington.

He was born April 14, 1929, in Niles, MI, to Earnest and Fern Clinger Ruef. He married Mary Janet Stoner on July 18, 1953, in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Bradford J. Paige, of Huntington; a daughter, Breck Ann (Martin) Hunnicutt, of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Pierce Ruef, of Virginia Beach, VA; Matthew Hunnicutt, Patrick Hunnicutt, Anna Hunnicutt and Madeline Hunnicutt, all of Fort Wayne; and Kyle Ruef, of Huntington; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 11a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Central Christian Church, 500 MacGahan St., Huntington. Rev. Chris Hayden will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
