Joy R. 'J.R.' White

Joy Reid "J.R." White, 90, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Mr. White worked with the Federal Aviation Administration for 34 years, retiring as tower chief. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Peru, and had coached Little League in Bluffton.

He was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Auglaize County, H, to Joy and Nema White. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen E. White.

Additional survivors include two sons, James (Mary) White, of Peru, and John White, of Elkhart; a daughter, Nancy (Phillip) Keppel, of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Tony White, Cammie Walburn, Corey (Anita) Keppel, Carey Keppel, Ellen Cochran, Julie (Chris) McDonough and Jill White; and seven great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Darrell Weigelt officiating.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the Hospice Home or the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame Museum.
