James P. Carnes

James Powell Carnes, 72, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Carnes served in the National Guard and retired from General Motors.

He was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Flat Lick, KY, to John and Minnie Warren Carnes. He married Joyce Minardo on Feb. 4, 1983. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Jason Carnes, of Roanoke; two sisters, Betty Baker, of Flat Lick, KY, and Irene Collins, of Indiana; two brothers, Thomas Ray Carnes, of Flat Lick, KY, and Rodney Myklak, of California; his mother-in-law, Dorthy Drattlo, of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, Julia Kennice Carnes, Emily Nicole Carnes and Aiden Michael James Murray.

Calling is Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, after 7:30 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, 302 N. Broadway, Barbourville, KY. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Epperson Cemetery, Flat Lick, KY.
