Donna M. Drerup

Donna M. Drerup, 87, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at 8:15 p.m. at River Terrace Estates, Bluffton.

Mrs. Drerup attended Andrews School and Ferris State University in Michigan. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Francis College, a Master of Arts from Ball State University, a reading specialist endorsement from St. Francis and an education specialist degree in school administration and supervision from Ball State.

She worked as an elementary teacher in Muskegon, MI. In Huntington, she taught at St. Mary School, Huntington Township, Horace Mann and Huntington North High School. She served as director of elementary education for the Huntington County Community Schools. She also taught at St. Francis College and Huntington College.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the church's Rosary Sodality and Open Door ministry, Huntington County Retired Teachers, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association and the Little Turtle Reading Association.

She was born Jan 18, 1925, in Huntington County to Clifford and Thelma Evans Wynn. She married Anthony "Bud" Drerup on June 29, 1946. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Constance (Steve) Bailey, of Holland, MI, and Delores (John) Roberts, of Huntington; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Campbell, of Huntington; Mike (Katherine) Bailey, of Carlsbad, CA; Lisa (Troy) Lephart, of Muncie; and Carolyn (Kraig) Borders, of Elkhart; six great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. John Pfister will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.

Preferred memorials are gifts to St. Mary Catholic Church or The Heart Institute Fund at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home.
