Indiana DOH offering free drive-thru COVID-19 clinic

The Indiana State Department of Health and the Huntington County Health Department are offering a free drive-thru clinic for COVID-19 testing this week.

The clinic will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Saturday, Jan. 9, at Schenkel Station, 11 W. State St., in Huntington.

Testing will be available to all members of the public regardless of symptoms. Children as young as 2 can be tested with parental consent.

Hoosiers will not be charged for testing and insurance is not required. Those with private health insurance are asked to bring that information to the testing site.

Huntington County Health Officer Dr. Thomas Ringenberg said it is important to be tested for COVID-19 if experiencing a fever, sinus pain, loss of smell or taste, a sore throat and especially if experiencing a breathing difficulty.

He added that early detection is critical to start early treatment of this viral syndrome for best recovery.
