2020 Thanksgiving meal is canceled

Trinity United Methodist Church has decided, due to increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases within the Huntington Community, to cancel their annual lunchtime meal on Thanksgiving.

“This meal has been provided without fail for over 30 consecutive years and has been a blessing for the church, the volunteers and the community members in need,” said Tim and Penny Allen, co-chairs of Trinity United Methodist Church Thanksgiving meal. “But, we understand the dangers of this coronavirus and must consider the welfare of everyone involved in the preparation and delivery of the meal.”

The meal requires over 70 volunteers to prepare, serve and deliver food to the community.

“We have a responsibility to keep them safe. This was a difficult decision and ask for prayers of understanding,” Tim Allen said.

Trinity United Methodist Church plans to offer the same meals and fellowship in 2021 as they had in prior years.
