Members of Disabled Veterans Outdoor Wilderness Experience Division (DVOWED) set their sights on deer last Saturday morning, Nov. 14, as firearm season officially opened up in Indiana.

The deer hunters were out and about in the early morning hours, and gathered together for a luncheon at the American Legion Post 85 in the afternoon to celebrate and recount their experiences. Pizza for the lunch was donated by local eatery Jimmy Pop’s.

Four hunters were able to show off their kills, Jim Minton, Christian Veach, Nathan Adams and Kirk Allred.

Pathfinder Services of Huntington donated five two-man tree stands to be used by the members of DVOWED on opening day.

DVOWED is a charity organization, providing hunting and fishing opportunities for disabled veterans.
