The Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club, located at 792N-200W, Huntington, will be hosting a Spook Show and Trailer Treat night on Saturday, Oct. 31, which will be open to the community. The show will start at noon on Saturday, with a costume class to start after 5 p.m.

The grounds will be open on Friday, Oct. 30, starting at 6 p.m., for the public. Those who wish to camp will be able to do so. Costs are associated with campers who wish to have electricity or rent a stall for a horse. Campers are encouraged to bring candy for trick-or-treaters.

Abbie Richardson, a secretary at the Club, says that the evening is for those with or without horses alike.

Events are designed for those of all skill levels and ages. There will be competitions on foot, such as a pumpkin toss, pumpkin bowl, a bat race, duck-duck-goose, rope the skeleton and more. These, along with a costume class and trailer judging, are just a few of the events that will be available for those who don’t have a horse to ride.

“We want people to know that we’re more than just a horse place,” Richardson says. “We want people to be able to come out, enjoy the scenery and just have some fun.”

There will be Halloween-themed horse events and team events as well, for children, adults and animals alike. A costume class for participants, as well as for animals, will be held in the evening.

At the end of the evening, starting at 6 p.m., a potluck dinner and bonfire will be held. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring a chair to sit around the bonfire.

Trick-or-treating activities will be available as well. According to Richardson, participants will be able to go trailer to trailer to collect candy, and those who bring their horse trailer or camper are invited to decorate their trailers. Prizes will be awarded to the best-decorated trailer, with judging slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Masks will not be required at the event, as it is being held outdoors.
