YSB ‘Tools For School’ program now underway

The Youth Service Bureau’s “Tools For School” school supplies program is underway.

The program began in 1994 to help ensure the students in Huntington County had the school supplies they needed to begin the school year.

The agency is seeking community support in meeting the needs of Huntington County. Groups and individuals are asked to collect school items and donate them to the Youth Services Bureau. Monetary donations are also extremely appreciated.

“In 2019, we provided 650 students with the school supplies they needed to start school,” said Jan Williams, executive director of YSB.

All school supplies are needed; however, the items most needed are pink erasers, folders (with and without prongs), filler paper and notebooks (wide rule, spiral and non-spiral), markers, colored pencils, glue sticks and pencil boxes.

Donations can be dropped off at the YSB office located at 1344 Maple Drive, Huntington, Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Those who are in need of school supplies for their child may contact the office at 356-9681 to sign their child up for the program.

“You must be the parent or guardian of the child to sign up for the program,” stated Annie Harrell, YSB staff.

The requests will be filled prior to the first day of school. Watch for information on the YSB Facebook page for the distribution dates.
