Redevelopment dept. to host meeting on June 22

The Huntington County Department of Redevelopment will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 22, at 6 p.m. to consider confirming the designation of the Markle West Economic Development Area as an economic development plan for the area and the allocation of the Markle West area for the purpose of tax increment financing.

The meeting will be held at the Huntington County Courthouse in the GAR Room on the second floor, located at 201 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. During the public hearing portion of the meeting, the redevelopment commission will receive and hear comments and remonstrances, written or oral, from persons interested in or affected by the proceedings pertaining to the area and/or the plan for the area. At the public hearing, the commission shall receive and hear, including written statements, remonstrances and objections.

The commission has prepared a plan for the area, as designated, a report on economic and tax impact analysis and all associated maps, and is considering the adoption of a resolution by the commission confirming the actions of the county’s plan commission and the county commissioners as it relates to the plan for the area.

Upon conclusion of the public hearing, the commission will hold a special meeting and may determine the public utility and benefit(s) of the area, of the plan for the area as an economic development area and of the allocation area and may take further action to confirm the area, the plan and the allocation area, as designated in the declaratory resolution, by adopting the confirmatory resolution.

The confirmatory resolution to be considered, maps and other information relative to its consideration may be viewed and inspected at the Huntington County Courthouse, room 103A.
