Indiana Extension Homemakers Association also offers scholarships

The Indiana Extension Homemakers Association offers scholarships for the 2020-2021 school year.

IEHA is a state organization with a focus on continued education, leadership development and volunteer community support. This organization offers annual scholarships for all ages and in a variety of fields of education.

The Career Advancement Scholarship offers eight $500 scholarships to Indiana Homemakers, 25 years of age or older. These scholarships are to be used to complete education or to upgrade vocational skills. One must be admitted to, or cleared for admission, to an academic or vocational school, which is licensed or accredited. Preference will be given to a person studying at an undergraduate level. Scholarships will be awarded with regard to financial need and former winners may apply again. Applications may be obtained from the Huntington County Extension Office at 1430 S. The Ruth B. Sayre Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year through the IHEA and the Country Women’s Council. Ruth Buxton Sayre inspired millions of rural women around the world to improve themselves and their communities with her practicality, humor, decency and common sense. As a young farm mother, she began work in striving for better conditions for farm women and their families by organizing her neighbors for college extension classes. She earned high posts in state, national and international organizations and served as ACWW President from 1947 to 1953.

The Country Women’s Council USA, offers a Ruth B. Sayre Memorial Scholarship each year to a woman who is a legal resident of the United States, who shows a financial need and who has the ability to complete her education.

An application with attachments must be submitted, reviewed and signed by the IEHA state president. The scholarship recipient or recipients shall be paid up to the amount of $500 for a year’s period of study, the money to be sent to the educational institution she is attending for tuition and/or books.
