Veterans service office encourages entries in Vets Day Parade Nov. 9

The Huntington County Veteran Service Office encourages all veterans and patriotic citizens to place an entry in the seventh annual Veterans Day Parade, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 9.

To register, call the Veterans Office at 358-4863 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The parade staging will be at 9 a.m. in the Huntington North High School west parking lot. Parade participants will enter HNHS at the MacGahan Street entrance, check in at registration and then proceed to the assigned entry number that will be marked on the ground. The parade will begin at 10 a.m.

It is requested that all entries display an American flag on their entry.

Due to road construction on West Park Drive there will be an alternate parade route this year. The route will go from MacGahan Street to Flaxmill Road to Park Hill and down Bartlett Street through the park.

The parade will culminate at Memorial Park for a brief ceremony and unveiling of the new Charter of Freedom Memorial.
