Flora earns McCurley Scholarship

The Huntington County Community Foundation announces that Mallory Flora of Huntington is the recipient of the 2019 Gary W. McCurley Scholarship totaling $1,000.

Flora, a rising senior at Indiana University, is majoring in marketing in the Kelley School of Business. She is working as a marketing intern with Barrett and Stokely in Indianapolis and plans on joining the firm after graduation next May. She is the daughter of Michelle and Michael Flora.

At Indiana University, Flora has served in both the vice president and president roles of the Hutton Honors College Student Organization. She continues volunteering at Senior Pak, an organization that provides free groceries to older citizens, and serves as an IU Auditorium volunteer.

Ken and Dottie McCurley established this scholarship in memory of their son, Gary. The award is presented annually to a high school graduating senior or non-traditional student who exemplifies the high academic achievement and Christian values of Gary McCurley, a 1975 graduate of Huntington North High School.

Applicants must be residents of Huntington County with a minimum grade point average or equivalent of 10.0 on an 11.0 scale or in the top 10 percent of their class.
