Old German School Christmas program set for Sunday, Dec. 16

Lighted luminarias will mark the path to the Old German School for the 10th annual German Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

The Christmas story from St. Luke will be read in both German and English and traditional carols will be accompanied on the old pump organ from the Hopewell Church. A wild cedar tree will be decorated with authentic German ornaments and German Christmas customs will be described.

“Stille Nacht” will be sung by a sixth-generation member of the Schenkel family, who were early settlers in the large German settlement which once existed in the area.

The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.

The Old German School is located at 3995N-1000W, three miles north of U.S.-24 on the Huntington/Wabash County Line Road. For more information, call 356-4218.
