Roanoke Town Council passes budget

The Roanoke Town Council passed the town’s 2019 budget at its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The board unanimously approved the budget, which totals $2,016,679. Of that total, $636,333 will derive from property taxes. The property tax rate is 1.4 percent.

Ryan Carroll, of the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department, informed council that the delivery of the department’s new fire truck was now not expected to occur until November. He noted that Fire Chief Brandon Taylor and other representatives from the department had visited the truck’s builder, Summit Fire Apparatus, in Edgewood, KY, earlier that day and examined the truck.

The board announced that trick-or-treating would occur in town on Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
