Local Extension to host staycation workshops

Purdue Extension Huntington County will be hosting staycation workshops Oct. 16 to 19, during the Huntington County Community School Corporation’s fall break for youth in grades 3 to 12.

Youth can register at the Purdue Extension office, 1340 S. Jefferson St., Huntington, for the following sessions:

• Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 16, 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. to noon – Fun in the Kitchen. Youth will learn easy, healthy foods they can make while having fun in the kitchen. A fee is charged.

• Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – take a shopping trip. Kids will learn how to add to their wardrobe and become smart shoppers. A fee is charged.

• Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Youth will be exploring The Science of Slime. They will create several different types of slime including one they can eat. A fee is charged.

• Friday, Oct. 19, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Code My World. No charge for this workshop. Youth will experience how easy computer coding is with this interactive workshop.

All 2018 fall staycation workshops will be held in the First Merchants Heritage Hall at the Huntington County Fairgrounds. Registration is open until Oct. 12.
