Brad E. Gordon (center), superintendent of the Huntington terminal of CF Industries, a distributor of anhydrous ammonia, holds a check for $7,400 presented to the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The donation will be used to send two members of the RVFD to the 2018 Ammonia Safety Training Institute in Monterey, CA. With Gordon are Ryan Carroll (left), president of the RVFD board of directors and Assistant Chief Jeff Carsten (right). They will represent the fire department at the training session, set for October, which will equip first responders with skills to better handle ammonia emergencies.
