Independents file to run for Roanoke, Warren town council seats

Independent candidates have filed to run for seats on the Roanoke and Warren town councils in the general election on Nov. 6.

The deadline to file the requisite petition signatures with the Huntington County Clerk’s Office was Monday, July 2.

Two open seats on the Warren Town Council drew interest from three candidates. Of those hopefuls, Steven L. Buzzard is the lone incumbent. Carrie M. Miller and Michael Yoder are the other candidates.

As for the Roanoke Town Council, two candidates expressed interest in that board’s two available seats. One candidate, Troy Karshner, is an incumbent, while the other, Ryan Carroll, is a newcomer.

There was one open seat on the Markle Town Council, but no candidates stepped forward to run for it. The current occupant of that seat, Rick Bower, now has the option of staying on the council, says Pam Fowler, Huntington County voter registration and election deputy.
