Huntington County SWCD to host 60th annual meeting and banquet

The Huntington County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its 60th annual meeting and banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at First Merchants Bank Heritage Hall, located at the Huntington County Fairgrounds beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The agenda for the event will include the election of SWCD board supervisor, presentation of conservation awards, reports about conservation programs and review of events for the past year. The program for the evening will be conducted by Greg Shoup, meteorologist for WANE-TV in Fort Wayne. The topic for Shoup’s presentation will be “Climate Change and How It Has and Will Affect the Agriculture Industry.”

A catered meal will be served. Tickets are on sale, with children under 5 free. For reservations or tickets, contact the SWCD office at 356-6816 ext. 3 or visit the SWCD office, located at 2040 Riverfork Drive, Huntington.

Reservations are needed for the meal and must be made by Feb. 16.

A short business meeting will be held at 5:45 p.m. prior to the annual meeting and banquet at the same location. The meeting is open to the public.
