Platelets, all types of blood urgently needed, says Red Cross

This January, National Blood Donor Month, the American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood and platelet donors of all blood types to make an appointment to give as soon as possible and help address a winter blood donation shortage.

While all blood types are urgently needed, there is a more critical need for platelets and whole blood donation types O negative, B negative and AB.
Upcoming blood drives in Huntington County are:

Huntington
• Jan. 15, from 1:30 p.m. .to 6:30 p.m. at Huntington Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd.

• Jan. 22, from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Rd.

• Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Huntington National Guard Armory, 800 Zahn St.

• Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Parkview Huntington Hospital, 2001 Stults Rd.

Roanoke
• Jan. 17, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., American Legion, 1122 N. Main St.
