Mass for sick set for St. Felix on Saturday, Jan. 20

A Mass for the sick will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. Felix Catholic Center, 1280 Hitzfield St., in Huntington.

The Mass begins at 1 p.m. and will be preceded by recitation of the rosary at 12:30 p.m.

The Mass is sponsored by the group, “Praying with Father Solanus,” named in honor of Rev. Solanus Casey. Casey, whose intercession is credited with many apparently miraculous cures, spent 10 years of his life at the former St. Felix Friary, now the home of St. Felix Catholic Center.

He died in 1957 and was approved for beatification by Pope Francis in May 2017.

Beatification normally leads to an official declaration of sainthood by the Catholic Church.

Tours of St. Felix Catholic Center, including the bedroom used by Casey when he lived there from 1946 to 1956, will be available after the Mass.

Assistance will be provided for those with handicaps or who use wheelchairs.
