Smokers can kick the habit with help from PHH

Parkview Huntington Hospital will offer a seven-week “Freedom from Smoking” class beginning Monday, Oct. 16.

Weekly sessions are held on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the board room on the lower level of the hospital, 2001 Stults Rd., Huntington.

Shelby Sheets, RN, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation coordinator at Parkview Huntington, is the certified facilitator  for the course. She will help each smoker develop a personal, long-term plan to stop smoking.

All participants will learn about stress management, weight control, assertive communication skills, exercise and nicotine replacement therapy and learn a step-by-step method to change behavior and quit smoking.

The course is free but space is limited to 16 participants. To register or for more information, call 355-3209.

The course can also be offered on-site at local companies.
