Community invited to ‘Walk for Peace’ Sept. 21 at Rotary Park

Community members are invited to participate in “Walk for Peace” on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Rotary Centennial Park, in downtown Huntington.

The walk is being held in recognition of International Day of Peace and promotes an end to violence of all kinds. It is sponsored by a partnership including Victory Noll Center, 509 Community Church and other Huntington community members.

Walks will begin at Rotary Centennial Park at 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. The route will loop through downtown Huntington and will include five stations for reflection. A communal gathering will take place at the park at 6:30 p.m.

The stations will address types of violence that affect the community and nation, such as economic violence, political violence, racial violence and environmental violence.

The reflection stations can also be viewed on Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the conference room of the Huntington Branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library.
