Marlin Doctor has announced that he is a candidate in the May primary for the Republican nomination as Huntington County Surveyor.

Doctor has farmed in Huntington County for 25 years. He also worked in sales and management for the JI Case Corporation for 19 years and was equipment superintendent for Brooks Construction for eight years.

Doctor and his wife of 30 years have three children and six grandchildren.

Doctor says the surveyor's office is "basically a management position" and that most counties in Indiana do not have a licensed surveyor holding the office. His work experience, he adds, has included working with customers, employees and management "in a constructive manner for the benefit of all parties involved."

Doctor says he wants to maintain land, creeks and drains and to "eliminate unnecessary projects, have less government intrusion on private property and work more openly with people."
