Story Time, Discovery Crew starting up at libraries

Fall Story Time and Discovery Crew signups are underway at the Huntington City-Township Public Library from Sept. 5 through Nov. 16.

Children from birth through 7 years are invited to this year’s “Fall Into Story Time” sessions at the Huntington and Markle libraries beginning Sept. 5. Sessions take place Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Tues-
day evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntington library, as well as Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Markle library.

Story Time emphasizes the six pre-reading literacy skills — letter knowledge, phonological awareness, print awareness, print motivation, vocabulary and narrative skills — from the Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library program.

Discovery Crew will begin the same week, inviting children in grades 1 through 3 to “Reach for the Stars!” Sessions are held at the Huntington library Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m. from Sept. 6 through Nov. 15. Students will explore space with a variety of activities and games.

Registration for both programs is open now. To sign up, call the Youth Services Department at 356-2900.
