Jon A. Moore has announced that he is a candidate for the second district seat on the Huntington County Community School Corporation board of trustees.

Moore, who grew up in Clay County, says he and his wife decided several years ago to make their home in Huntington County, where she had grown up.

"We looked at a lot of factors in making the decision, but none compared to the fact that we felt the Huntington County Community School Corporation and the community of Huntington County was the best place to raise a family."

In Clay County, Moore served in the Indiana Air National Guard, as a reserve officer for the Brazil Police Department, a volunteer firefighter with the Dick Johnson Township Fire Department and a Clay County Councilman.

He has worked as an adjunct university professor, product research and development technician, strategic planner, business advisor and accountant.
Moore, the father of two daughters, serves as a lay leader and treasurer at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church.

Moore says that, as a school board member, he would focus on financial issues, including pushing for an Indiana income tax credit for donations to Indiana school corporations similar to the credits that currently benefit Indiana colleges and universities; and creation of an HCCSC Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that would raise funds and establishment endowments for the local schools.
