Zanesville gears up for Summer Festival Saturday

A car show, craft show and a full day of baseball are only a few of the activities in store at the Zanesville Lions Club Summer Festival on Saturday, July 29, in Zanesville.

The festival’s car show will be held at the Zanesville United Methodist Church with music by  DJ Rich McCoy.

Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Dash plaques are given to the first 50 entries. Early registration fee is discounted. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m.

Entries for the car show can be mailed to PO Box 361, Zanesville, IN 46799. An entry fee is charged.

Vendor booths will be set up inside and outside the Zanesville United Methodist Church, 11811 Wayne St., Zanesville. Booths include flea market, antiques, crafts, arts, displays and advertising. The booths will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free horse and wagon rides and Holley’s kiddy train rides will leave from Zanesville United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Town-wide garage sales will be held throughout the day.

The Aces 13-year-old traveling baseball team will host a tournament throughout the weekend at the ball park.

The first games will start on Friday, July 28, at 6 p.m. Games start on Saturday at 8 a.m. and last all day. There’s a possibility of a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, July 30.

Food featured at the ball park are the brats and onion rings from the Church of God, from 9 a.m. until they’re sold out, and Lions concessions, featuring apple dumplings and root beer floats, all day.

Proceeds go to the Zanesville Lion’s Community Park and Lion’s Projects.

The Zanesville Lions Club Summer Festival is the successor to Zanesville Homespun Day, which in past years was held over the Labor Day weekend.
