Local ties for new recon group commander

Col. Scott J. Nahr-gang took command of the 548th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group during a change of command ceremony June 26, at Beale Air Force Base, in California.

Nahrgang is the son of Huntington native Kay Paul Nahrgang and Keith Nahrgang, who now live in Charlotte, NC. His mother is a graduate of Huntington High School and Huntington University. He is the grandson of the late Gerald and Mary Jane Brauchla Paul, who were Huntington residents.

Nahrgang graduated from Albemarle High School, in Albemarle, NC, in 1992 and from The Citadel, in Charleston, SC, in 1996. He has served in the United States Air Force for 21 years and previously served as the executive officer to the Secretary of Defense in Europe.

In his new position, Nahrgang succeeds Col. Jacob. J. Holmgren, who led the 548th ISRG for two years.

The 548th ISRG is headquartered at Beale Air Force Base, just outside Sacramento, CA.
