Huntington Police Department promotes three

Three members of the Huntington Police Department received promotions during a ceremony on Thursday, June 22, in the Huntington City Building.

Sgt. Shane Jones was promoted to captain, Det. Sgt. Cory Boxell was promoted to detective captain and Det. Andy Ellet promoted to sergeant.

Jones is a 1991 graduate of Huntington North High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He began his law enforcement career with the Andrews Police Department in 1999 and joined the Huntington Police Department in 2002. He joined the HPD’s detective bureau in 2010.

Boxell, a Purdue University graduate and former pilot, has been a member of the Huntington Police Department for 14 years and a detective for seven years.

Ellet, a 1992 graduate of Huntington North High School, became a reserve officer with the Huntington Police Department in 2000. He was hired as a full-time officer the following year and joined the detective bureau in 2013.
