The Huntington County Community Foundation has announced that Johnna Cummins and Cameron DeWitt, both of Warren, are recipients of 2017 Daugherty Family Scholarships.

Cummins, a graduating senior from Eastbrook High School, will be attending Huntington University majoring in agribusiness. She is the daughter of Amy and Dennis Cummins.

A member of the Eastbrook National Honor Society and a 10-year 4-H participant, Cummins has been active in FFA, girls’ basketball, football manager and Mu Alpha Theta. Her volunteer activities include concessions at the Knight Bergman Center, Eastbrook Young Farmers, Warren Food Pantry and End Hunger Now.

DeWitt, a rising junior at Southeastern University, is majoring in business administration with special interest in health care. He is the son of Sarah DeWitt of Huntington and Steven DeWitt, of Bluffton.

During his sophomore year at Southeastern, DeWitt continued as a team leader in Ultimate Frisbee. When back in the area he is employed at The Daugherty Companies and The Heritage of Huntington.

The Daugherty Family Fund was established in 2009 in honor of H.L. and Martha Daugherty to provide scholarships to employees, their children or Warren area students pursuing further education in agriculture.  The Daugherty Companies, founded in 1939, employs 22 people. Due to the technical nature of the business the company sees the need for advanced training through technical schools and colleges.
