Local law firm awards trio of scholarships to HNHS seniors

The Huntington County law firm of Bowers, Brewer, Garrett & Wiley LLP has announced the winners of its 2017 educational scholarships.

Nolan Betterly, Kayci Clark and Jami Norwood received scholarships to be used toward their continuing education.

Betterly is the son of Ken and Anne Betterly, of Huntington. He plans to major in tourism, hospitality and event management at Indiana University.

Betterly has been active at Huntington North High School in golf, basketball, National Honor Society, Student Athletic Board, school WVSH broadcasts and Junior Vikes Basketball Camp.  He has also been involved with the Huntington soup kitchen, Blessings in a Backpack, Forks of the Wabash and Campus Life and as a youth sports referee and coach at the YMCA.

Clark is the daughter of Dan and Kim Clark, of Markle. She plans to major in dental hygiene at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.  

Clark has been active at Huntington North High School with Campus Life, volleyball and National Honor Society.  She has also been involved with Forgotten Children, Rake and Run, Angel Tree project and Markle Church of Christ youth group mission trips to Mexico.

Norwood is the daughter of Mike and Brenda Norwood, of Roanoke. She plans to attend the University of Evansville to major in physical therapy.   

At Huntington North, Norwood has been active in class council, FFA and National Honor Society. She has served as a student tutor and is ranked in the Top 10 of her class.  

She has participated in 4-H, 4-H Junior Leaders, 4-H livestock judging team, youth advisory board, Upward sports program, Interfaith Hospitality Network, New Life Fellowship and Adopt-A-Family.
