The LaFontaine Arts Council has recognized three students from Huntington Catholic School, Grace Bryant, Lillian Holzinger and Seth Scheiber, for their achievement in art, music and band.

Visual art teacher Barbara Martin nominated Bryant, an eighth grader, for her artistic talent. She is the daughter of Mark and Terese Bryant, of North Manchester.

“Grace is very talented, creative and hard working,” Martin says. “She always is willing to listen to creative criticism and works to improve.”

Bryant also participates in 4-H and vocal and impact choir. She was the spelling bee winner, Kiwanis Girl of the Year and winner of  the Childhood Mission Association Christmas contest.

Holzinger, also an eighth-grader, is the daughter of Greg and Jody Holzinger, of Huntington. She was nominated by her general music teacher, Joan Gardner.

“Lillian is a very talented, hard-working young lady,” Gardner says. “She has sung with the Pueri Cantores (an all-diocesan choir) and has sung ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ for several events.”

Holzinger is also active in the Huntington County Children’s Choir, church choir, cross county, basketball and student council and was recognized as Student of the Week by Edward Jones.

Scheiber, an eighth-grader, was nominated by Doug McElhaney, band teacher, for his performance band.

“Seth has been a great student,” McElhaney says. “Always willing and able to help out, play additional parts and help students that are struggling. I have enjoyed working with Seth, and I will miss him as he moves on to the high school.”

Scheiber was also named Boy of the Year by the Kiwanis Club. He is the son of Bill and Sue Scheiber, of Huntington.
