Both the Huntington County Department of Community Development and the City of Huntington Community Development and Redevelopment Department have been recognized for their work to streamline business permitting.

The awards were presented April 19 in Fort Wayne at a reception hosted by the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership and the HPG Network.

The two local departments are members of the 11-county Permitting Excellence Coalition, which is dedicated to streamline permitting processes across the region. An efficient permitting process gives northeast Indiana a competitive advantage in attracting new businesses and encouraging growth at existing businesses, the coalition says.

During 2016, the third year for the coalition, the focus was on tracking performance data, use of a standardized customer feedback survey and regular input from high volume customers.
