HU professor will present piano recital on March 23

Dr. Patricia Spedden, professor of music at Huntington University, will present a piano recital on Tuesday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Center for the Arts.

The recital will feature piano arrangements from her two CD recordings - classical works blended with hymns and praise songs - against a backdrop of visual images and nature sounds.

Spedden serves as director of piano studies and as chair of the division of visual and performing arts at the university. A native of New York City and winner of several concerto competitions as well as awards for piano performance, she has appeared as piano soloist with symphony orchestras in the East and Midwest.

She frequently performs professionally and has presented a number of scholarly papers, including "Another Liszt Revision," published by the American Liszt Society. She released a CD recording of her sacred piano arrangements based on classical piano works titled, "Classical Praise" in 2003.

In 2007, she released a second CD titled, "Classical Praise 7: Solo Piano Encore."

The CDs are marketed nationally and internationally by Discovery House Music.
