The Teen Suicide Prevention Task Force will host a training session on March 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This is a free training session that will be held at the Youth Services Bureau office and is geared for family members, friends, pastors, etc. who want to learn more about preventing suicide among teens.

Additional trainings will be hosted in upcoming months.
The QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training will cover a variety of topics, including the extent of the problem on a national and state level, common myths and facts associated with suicide, warning signs and risk factors, tips for asking the suicide questions, methods for persuading suicidal individuals to receive help and ways to refer at-risk people to local resources.

Space is limited, so reservations are required. To reserve a spot, call the Youth Services Bureau at 356-9681 or 800-298-5444.

Online registrations may be made by e-mailing ys badm@choiceonemail.com.

The Teen Suicide Prevention Task Force is made up of representatives from local law enforcement agencies, Huntington County Community Schools, Bowen Center, LACE, social service partners and the Youth Services Bureau.
The two primary goals of the Task Force are prevention through education and community awareness and the development of a community-wide approach when dealing with youth and suicide.

The workshop is being offered through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
