Area conservation officer Bolt gets honor as district officer of year

Indiana Conservation Officer Erick J. Bolt has been named district officer of the year for 2009 by the conservation officers of District Two.

The district includes the counties of LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Whitley, Allen, Huntington, Adams and Wells.

Bolt is assigned to Whitley County and has served as a conservation officer since Nov. 20, 1995.

He is one of nine officers receiving district honors who are now being considered for the Pitzer Outstanding Officer of the Year Award, a state honor presented in remembrance of Conservation Officer James D. Pitzer, a 22-year veteran who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 2, 1961, in Jay County.
