HU to hold SPARK workshop for PE leaders

The Huntington University Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Management will host a SPARK workshop on March 5 for physical education teachers.

The workshop will be presented in collaboration with the Indiana School Health Network. SPARK is an acronym for "Sports, Play & Active Recreation for Kids."

The workshop will provide each attendee with a working knowledge of SPARK's unique content and instructional strategies. Participants will learn about the program's standards-based lessons and varied teaching styles. The SPARK curriculum has been shown to have positive effects on students' academic achievement, fitness level, sports skill development, and enjoyment of physical education classes.

The cost of the workshop is $30 and includes lunch. The workshop is designed for physical education teachers or elementary classroom teachers who are licensed to teach physical education. Registration is limited to 31 licensed teachers; a waiting list will be developed.
