Still time left to register for primary vote

For Huntington County residents who have forgotten to register to vote for the upcoming primary elections, there is still time left.

Voter Registration Deputy Pam Fowler says the process to completing registration is relatively simple.

"To find out if you are registered to vote, you can log on to indianavoters. com," she states. "After clicking on the voter registration tab, you just follow the instructions."

She adds that if the individual is not registered to vote, the process can be completed in a couple of ways.
"There is a downloadable voter registration application, that residents can get online at the same Web site," Fowler says. "The form may be mailed in or brought in to our office."

Fowler adds that voter registration forms are also available at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Eligibility for voting includes a minimum age of 18 years old, residency in the county in which the person wishes to vote and United States citizenship.

"There is sometimes an influx of voters registering during this period, because some people may have forgotten since there was no election last year," states Fowler. "Voter turnout at the last general elections was also very high."

The upcoming primary election will be held on May 4. The deadline for voter registration is April 5. The deadline for voter absentee by mail applications for the primary is April 26.
