Karing for Kids Christmas Angel Trees are returning for the 12th year.

Trees were set up on Monday, Nov. 3, and will be in place until the final return date of Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Each child on the Karing for Kids Christmas Angel Tree list will receive eight gifts, consisting of two toys or fun things depending on their age, clothing, pajamas, shoes, coat, socks and underwear.

The family will also be given a Christmas meal box that Life Church in Bluffton is coordinating again this year for Karing for Kids, as well as a Bible donated by Markle Church of Christ and a Christmas book donated by Ideals Publications.

“We have 825 children from 291 families from Huntington and Wells counties that we are assisting this year,” says Karing For Kids president Rhonda O’Reilly. “These numbers are up greatly from last year.”

Karing for Kids can use help in many ways this year, including volunteers to pick up angels and purchase gifts, sort all the donated gifts, wrap and deliver.

Monetary donations are also needed, as the Karing for Kids committee will purchase the gifts for any angel that is not adopted.

“Last year we spent nearly $23,000 on gifts after all the adopted angel gifts were returned.” O’Reilly says. “This is only possible by those businesses, organizations and community individuals who send us monetary donations.”

Monetary donations may be sent to Karing for Kids at 1481W-100N, Bluffton, IN 46714. Donations are tax deductible as KFK is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the Federal government.

Other ways to help (all events take place at Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle):

• Wrapping – Friday, Dec. 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. until finished.

Karing for Kids was formed by Tim and Rhonda O’Reilly in memory of their daughter Jennifer, who died in a car accident on Aug. 26, 2004. Since Jennifer’s death more than 7,000 children have been helped through Christmas presents, school supplies and clothing from the three projects Karing for Kids provides.
